Writing is about Re-Writing: but I am running out of excuses why I haven't yet finished my Manuscript (work in progress)

Except to say, what I have already gleaned - during even the time before I completed my first book, up until now - will be an absolutely awesome "personal assistant" for my next ... and the next ... Book.  Hubby (incidentally just retired) thinks in "the real world" I should have been a Librarian!  I am beginning to think he has a point.

The preparation and knowledge required is like a layered Cake, except that each layer in a Cake is repetitive, with a variation mostly only in the colour of icing :

The process of being an Indie Writer in today's technical and fast-moving world, involves issues so vast and endless.  Even Readers over the years are themselves constantly evolving.  It all adds up to a very interesting learning process, the Masters of which so generously and willingly share their expertise.  Huge congratulations to those who so deservedly made it to the Top Writing Blogs!

Work In Progress

This isn't a picture of my Editing Work in Progress but it kind of depicts where I am:

If you have read any of my blogs before you will be aware that in my initial first draft I find pictures of how I perceive my main characters should look.

I am editing a specific scene in my Mystery and decided some visual assistance will help, as it is far removed from my own experience.

But the character involved in this scene is kind of cute, but not boyfriend or husband material.

and he has a date in this scene with:

His wife is safely at home.  The question is will he make it back there?

...... Back to my writing world to find out.

Message to Myself re my Current Manuscript

In other words, I must get moving with my in progress Manuscript and JUST DO IT!

Author : Are you Looking in the Mirror?

When creating characters for my "A Question of Love" published novel in the Romance genre; and my current 'in progress' draft in the Romance / Mystery genre, I am most definitely not 'looking in the mirror'.

(Www.123rf.com / photo #38770774 )

I can only speak for myself and not for any other author, but when I create a story, and characters, I am  in my own world, creating fiction.  Each and every character is not based on any experience of mine, or any trait I may have acquired, and entirely a figment of my imagination.

What will, however, be part of my own experience, is a place, a time, or a career background, even as an observer.

Often there is a misconception by readers, one is using personal experience, due perhaps an author has to explore deep emotions in our main characters' daily lives and conflicts.  This is entirely divorced from one's own viewpoints, feelings, morals and even talents and prowess.  If I was to define a single point, perhaps that is what makes the encompassing desire 'to write' so completely intriguing.

I for my part cannot sit down with my manuscript and become involved, if there is "stuff" I must deal with at home.  It is unlike any other job.

Think Tank for existing Published Book whilst in editing process for Future Mystery

Today's published Indie Authors have always many caps they have to fit on their head, even apart from living in the real world, with all its own distractions.

As such one's previous work still remains in one's mind and I decided to have a little fun with this:

Had my Fun, now back to my current work .....

So you want to be a Writer ...

Last time I blogged I depicted some of the chores which have a nasty habit of interfering with my writing.  Actually, this is what my author files look like, which include my work-in-progress Romance/Mystery where I rightly or wrongly like to literally picture my characters.  In actual fact I could be an ideal secretary to a top, top Best Selling Author living in a very beautiful Island somewhere!

Of course all writers also spend lots of time at their computer:

Important also one combines what could be considered a solitary occupation with a balanced lifestyle, which for me includes the Gym.
